AI visibility tools compared (2026): prices, engines and who each one fits

An honest comparison of Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Semrush, Ahrefs Brand Radar and Citeroot: starting prices, which AI engines each tracks, and when to pick which. Written by Citeroot, with sources.

Disclosure: we make Citeroot, one of the tools on this page. We've tried to describe every tool fairly from public information, including where another tool is the better choice. If something here is out of date or wrong, email hello@citeroot.app and we'll correct it.

About the prices: they are list prices as published by each vendor and reported in public reviews between May and October 2026 (linked under Sources). Vendors change prices and limits often, so check the vendor's own pricing page before you buy.

#Tool by tool

#Citeroot

What it is: an AI visibility tool that records what ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity say about a brand, with web search on, and keeps every answer as it was collected. It measures mentions, citations and recommendations separately and shows a range for each, because answers vary from run to run. It also maps which domains the answers cite, audits a site for AI-crawler access and answer-readiness, and drafts content briefs (beta).

  • Pricing: Scout is free (1 project, 10 prompts, 60 answers a month on Gemini or Perplexity). Trail is $59/month ($49 billed yearly) with 1,000 answers and 2 engines. Summit is $199/month ($169 billed yearly) with 5,000 answers, all four engines and 5 projects. Paid plans are opening soon; trials and Scout are open now. Current pricing.
  • Good fit: small teams, founders and agencies who want a real baseline without a sales call; anyone who needs Claude or Gemini covered on a modest budget.
  • Not a fit (yet): Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot are not tracked. There are no integrations, API or team seats yet. Citeroot is a new, small company.

#Profound

What it is: an enterprise-focused AI visibility platform. Public reviews describe self-serve plans billed yearly: Starter at about $99/month covering ChatGPT with 50 prompts, and Growth at about $399/month adding Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Enterprise is quoted individually and reportedly covers up to 10 answer engines, with SSO and SOC 2 compliance.

  • Good fit: large brands and enterprise teams that need many engines, security reviews and account support.
  • Consider instead: if you need several engines on a small budget, the entry plan covers ChatGPT only.

#Peec AI

What it is: an AI search analytics tool from Berlin, priced in euros. Reviews put Starter at about €89/month and Pro at about €199/month, with prompt limits that vary by source (roughly 25 to 50 prompts on Starter). You choose the models you track, with extra models available as paid add-ons.

  • Good fit: teams, especially in Europe, that want to pick their models and track prompts across several brands.
  • Consider instead: if you want every major engine included in the base price.

#Otterly.AI

What it is: an AI search monitoring tool with low entry pricing. Reviews list Lite at $29/month for 15 prompts, Standard at $189/month for 100 prompts and Premium at $489/month for 400 prompts, with ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot included and Gemini and Google AI Mode as paid add-ons.

  • Good fit: small teams that need Google AI Overviews or Copilot from day one.
  • Consider instead: if Claude or Gemini matter to you, check the add-on costs; reviews disagree on whether Claude is offered.

#Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

What it is: AI visibility tracking inside Semrush, reported at about $99/month per domain. Reviews disagree on whether a core Semrush subscription is also required, so check before you buy.

  • Good fit: teams already living in Semrush who want AI visibility next to their SEO data.
  • Consider instead: if you don't use Semrush, a standalone tool is usually cheaper.

#Ahrefs Brand Radar

What it is: Ahrefs' tool for brand mentions in AI answers. Ahrefs lists Brand Radar from about $199/month, with higher tiers (reported at about $398 and $699/month) for more AI platforms, and limited prompt tracking bundled into some core plans.

  • Good fit: Ahrefs customers who want AI mentions alongside their link and keyword data.
  • Consider instead: if you only need AI visibility, the full cost can be high.

#How to choose

  1. List the engines your buyers use. If your buyers use Copilot at work, or you sell in a market where Google AI Overviews dominate, start there. If your buyers are developers or analysts, Claude matters more.
  2. Count prompts and answers, not just seats. Ten prompts on four engines run daily is 1,200 answers a month. Compare plans on the number of answers they collect.
  3. Check how a tool handles variation. AI answers change between runs. A tool that shows one "rank" from one run will mislead you. Look for repeated runs and ranges. Why answers vary.
  4. Ask how answers are collected. Most tools call the providers' APIs; some capture the consumer apps or Google's results page. Both are approximations of what a signed-in person sees. API answers vs app answers.
  5. Start with a trial and your own prompts. Use the same ten prompts in two tools for two weeks and compare what you learn.
